If you have sponsors, you will want to give them some advertising space on your Home page.
We use Ad Manager to create the advert and then the Advertisement widget in Site Builder to display the advert on a page.
Start from Site Administration>Site Management>Information Board and select Ad Manager.
You’ll get a list of advertisements that may be used on your site. These are listed in alphabetical order.
The England and Wales Cricket Board have generated the adverts in the General Advertisement category.
Notice that you may only remove adverts that have been created within your site.
Click the Add New Advertisement button.
Complete the mandatory contact details for the sponsor as per the example below and save the advert. The important parts to get right are the Web Page Address and the image - clicking on the public image should take the viewer to the sponsor’s website.
Note that the image file must be in the format jpg, png or tiff. PDF files are not acceptable for use in this widget and will not display.
If the logo changes, there is no need to create a new advert – just edit the advertisement and upload the new image from your computer. The change will be reflected on the public side.
Having created adverts using Ad Manager, use Site Builder to place them on your site.
Select Site Builder from Site Administration>Site Management.
Click on Widgets, then Library and select Advertisement.
Make changes to the general setting for the placement and initial size of the advert here:
Select the Advertisement widget setting tab.
Click the Site Advertisement dropdown to see the adverts that you created. Select the General advertisements dropdown for ECB adverts that you may use. Be aware that some adverts or offers may last for a limited amount of time.
If you choose to show the advert on All Pages, the advert will appear in the same position on every page of your site.
In the screen shot below you can see that the advert needs to be tidied up because the position wasn’t correctly set, and the widget’s ‘frame’ is too big.
Take care not to overlap adverts. If the frame of one advert overlaps another, the link in the advert beneath may not work.
Here is the Site Builder view of my Home page with the re-sized advert in place.
If your sponsor cannot see the advert that you have placed on the site, he may have an ad blocker in place. These add-ons to a browser may be adjusted to exclude sites from being filtered.
If this is an issue, the create the advert using an image in the HTML widget and link the image to the sponsor’s website address.
