Troubleshooting FSL Scoreboard Issues (PCS Pro) Follow
If you cannot connect to the FSL scoreboard controller, the first thing to try is resetting your configuration to their defaults. Using Windows Explorer, go to the following folder:
< Documents >\Cricket Matches\_Scoreboards
Rename (or delete) the following file:
scoreboard-config.json
Then perform the following steps:
- Make sure your FSL cable is connected and the Controller is turned on
- Load PCS Pro and go to Tools > Configuration > Scoreboards tab – based on step 1, all scoreboards should now be disabled
- Tick Enabled for the ‘LED Scoreboard (FSL Controllers only)’ section
- For now also tick the ‘Include debug output’ box in the same section
- Check the COM Port list – if there is nothing listed, then there is a connection problem (see separate steps below)
- Click Ok to save settings
- Click the Settings cog on the Main Scoreboard panel and select ‘Refresh all scoreboards’ (alternatively you could just score or update a ball)
- If you are still having issues, please locate the debug output file below and send as attachment (or copy it’s text contents) to play.cricket@ecb.co.uk
< Documents >\Cricket Matches\_Scoreboards\led-commands-debug.txt
NOTE: This debug file can disabled once everything is working in Tools > Configuration > Scoreboards tab, and untick the ‘Include debug output’ box
For a connection problem (in step 5 above), try the following:
- Restart your computer with the cable connected (try turning Controller on and off first)
- Load PCS Pro and go to Tools > Configuration > Scoreboards tab
- Check the COM Port list – if it is now listed, you can continue the configuration steps (above) and test
- If there is still nothing listed in the COM Port list, try the following:
- Try a different USB Port on your computer, if still not showing, restart computer and try again
- If possible, try a different cable to rule out a physical connection issue
- Check Control Panel > System > Device Manager to see if there anything is listed under Ports (COM and LPT)
- At this point if Windows can’t see your cable connection (Port) then you should contact who you purchased the controller and cable from for technical support
NOTE: If you change cables it is likely multiple COM Ports will be used. Both the new COM Port (current cable) and previously used cable’s COM Port will be visible under the Tools > Configuration > Scoreboard tab. PCS Pro will always show the currently configured COM port in the list whether or not it’s connected. This allows users to change other settings and exit, not forcing a COM port change.
To Refresh the scoreboard, use the Settings menu:
ESU Scoreboards:
- Go to Tools > Configuration > Scoreboard tab
- Enable the FSL Scoreboard Output (bottom box)
- Select the appropriate COM Port which corresponds to the USB cable – if there is more than one, either check in Windows Control Panel > Device Manager or try the bottom one in the list first
NOTE: The default settings are based on the standard FSL controller setup. If category mapping is required (Command config), please contact the reseller directly (e.g. ESU)
